Man hospitalized following one-car accident in Newburg Township on Sunday morning

NEWBERG TOWNSHIP, MI — A Jones man is in the hospital after a single vehicle crash early Sunday morning inCass County.

Kenneth Duke, 50, was traveling west on Born Street near Patterson Hill Road in Newberg Township in Cass County, when he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road and struck a tree at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Duke was extracted from the vehicle and transported to the emergency room at Three Rivers Health before being airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Duke was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department. The crash remains under investigation.

Newberg Township Fire and Ambulance and Lifecare Ambulance assisted at the scene of the accident.
