A 16-year-old girl was killed in a car accident on Lancaster Highway late Saturday night in Union County.
UNION COUNTY, N.C. – A 16-year-old girl was killed in a crash in Union County late Saturday night, officials say.
North Carolina Highway Patrol identified the victim as 16-year-old Autumn Plyler. Six other people were injured in the accident, but officials have not released all of their names or conditions at this time.
According to NCHP, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Lancaster Highway when it went off the road to the right, the driver, 20-year-old Kemthia Garlins, over corrected, then went over the center line and hit a tree on the left side of the road. Troopers say Garlins is charged with DWI, and other charges are pending. She is currently in critical condition.
